The Sacramento Kings might not have an All-Star but they will be participating in All-Star weekend thanks to the Rising Stars challenge. The NBA announced today that Kings rookie Bogdan Bogdanovic and second year guard Buddy Hield were named to the World team, giving the Kings two representatives for the weekend.
Bogdanovic and Hield will be joined by Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, Dillon Brooks, Lauri Markkanen, Jamal Murray, Frank Ntilikina and Domantas Sabonis. They will face off against the United States team of Donovan Mitchell, Lonzo Ball, Kris Dunn, Malcolm Brogdon, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Dennis Smith Jr. and John Collins.
De’Aaron Fox might have had a case for the team if he had been playing like he has the past few weeks all season, but it’s hard to justify his inclusion over the players above.
With Bogdan and Buddy at All-Star Weekend for this event, don’t be surprised if one (Buddy especially) gets invited to do another event such as the three point shootout. Hield is currently shooting 43.8% from distance, which is tied for 8th best in the league.
Congrats to Bogdan and Buddy, who make this year’s All-Star festivities a bit more interesting for those of us in Sacramento.
