Ten days ago, we asked you to help us treat some foster kids to a Kings game by offering a donation. With the short notice, we were hoping to get at least 250 tickets sold with the hope that next year we could do something even bigger.
Of course, Sacramento doesn’t just try to meet expectations. You guys blew past that 250 goal in the first day of the ticket link being up and as of this morning, over 600 tickets have been sold. With the Kings generously matching each ticket sold, that’s over 1,200 kids who get to go to a Kings game, many for the first time. 500 of those kids will go to tomorrow’s season finale, with the rest getting to go to a game early next season. There’s still time to donate if you haven’t yet, but the link will expire after today.
Throughout this process, it’s been great to hear from commenters and fans who have their own experiences in the foster system and what this means to them. We hope that with this initiative, we’re able to create hundreds more happy memories for these kids and create fans for life.
I can’t thank you all enough, whether you donated or simply shared the link to others. I’d especially like to thank the Kings for their generous offer to match all tickets as well as honoring that match well above the initial goal they had agreed to, and also to the Ticket to Dream foundation for everything that they do.
This community always rises to the occasion, and I can’t wait to see what we can do going forward.
Thank you.
