Kings sign Jared Cunningham to 10-day contract

Sacramento's been running short of guards lately, so another 10-day contract is being signed to get one.

Since the signing of Willie Reed was apparently to help the Reno Bighorns secure a playoff spot in the D-League, the Kings have signed a different player to help them out on the court.

Jason Jones reports that the Kings have signed guard Jared Cunningham to a 10-day contract, and that Cunningham will be in New Orleans tonight. The Kings are currently incredibly thin at the guard position right now, with only Isaiah Thomas, Ray McCallum and Ben McLemore and that doesn't factor in that Isaiah hasn't played in the last three games due to a thigh injury.

Cunningham is 22 years old and was drafted 24th in 2012. He's seen limited action the last two years with the Mavericks and the Hawks before Atlanta waived him at the trade deadline this year. Prior to that, Cunningham played three years at Oregon State, where he scored 17.9 points in his junior year. DraftExpress' profile of Cunningham at the time says that his strengths lie in his athleticism and in the open court, but has an average handle and needs work on his perimeter jumper.

This signing likely means that the Kings will not be signing Royce White again, as they are now at a full 15 man roster, although they theoretically could sign him after Cunningham's 10-day if they wanted to.
