Kings Acquire James Johnson for Future 2nd Round Pick

By | 0 Comments | Feb 20, 2019

Johnson played sparingly for his first couple years in Chicago before he was traded to Toronto where he got more room to grow. Last year he averaged 9.1 PPG (on .452 FG%), 4.7 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.1 STL and 1.4 BLK in 25.2 MPG. Johnson does a bit of everything, and is a phenomenal shotblocker for a wing player. While he isn't what you would call a "lockdown defender" he has the potential and physical tools to become one. One thing Johnson isn't though, is a shooter, hitting just 30% of his career three-point attempts. The Kings need spacing, and Johnson will not provide that.

Still, the acquisition was cheap and it fills a definite need. As of right now this puts the Kings roster at 14 without any other moves. By my calculations, the Kings have approximately $2.5 million left in cap space.
