Kings vs. Timberwolves preview: Lights, Camera, Action!

The Kings need to take care of business on the road.

At the beginning of the NBA season Will hatched the great idea to include movie recommendations in game previews. The idea was that it was going to be a painful task previewing 82 games for a team we thought would be lucky to win 26 games. Then a funny thing happened. The team turned out to be good and really fun to write about, so the movie previews were abandoned with the idea that we’d return to them if the Kings’ hot start wasn’t sustained. With the Oscars last night, it’s incredible that we’re still enjoying this season and the Kings are still playing good basketball. No movie recommendations needed.

Let’s talk Kings basketball.

When: Monday, February 25th, 5:00 PM PT

Where: Target Center, Minneapolis, MN

TV: NBCSCA

Radio: KHTK Sports 1140 AM

For Your Consideration

The Sacramento Kings hold a 2-1 lead in the season series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and while the Timberwolves have considerable ground to make up before they’d be considered contenders for the 8th seed, it would behoove the Kings to wrap up the season series with a win. We’re at the point of the season where every win matters, and the Kings can’t afford to lose games that they should win. It sounds cliche, I know. But the Wolves are a sub-.500 team and the Kings need to take care of business. That hasn’t been easy for the Kings this year, as they’ve allowed several close games to slip through their fingers.

Tonight’s key matchup is Willie Cauley-Stein vs Karl-Anthony Towns. Willie had a really impressive game against Steven Adams on Saturday. He played solid defense, rebounded well, and played well within the flow of the offense. He had a few lapses, but nothing major. The Kings really need that same version of WCS against the Wolves. In previous matchups Willie wore down KAT by running the floor hard and forcing KAT to try to keep up. That’s a recipe for success that the Kings need to execute again.

Prediction

Buddy Hield leads all scorers, De’Aaron Fox has 15 assists, and Harrison Barnes has his first breakout offensive game as a Sacramento King. After the game Andrew Wiggins creates a controversy by saying he wishes he’d been traded to the Kings in the offseason.

Kings 127, Timberwolves 110
