The Sacramento Kings today announced that they have waived all three of their training camp invitees: SF Tony Mitchell, C Hamady N'Diaye and C Willie Reed. Only N'Diaye saw much time in Preseason and a lot of that was partly due to foul trouble of the other Kings bigs. For all the speculation before the preseason that Tony Mitchell might make the team, that never seemed to be in the picture, especially after Tyler Honeycutt returned from his injury early.
After the cuts the Kings roster is now at 14. There are a maximum of 15 roster spots available to each NBA team, but most teams opt to stick at 14 to save future flexibility.
If Sacramento could use anything else, it would be another big man, even if its just for injury insurance or foul trouble. Hassan Whiteside could have been that guy, but he was waived after only the first game in summer league. He was also not invited to training camp on any NBA team.
