Sactown Royalty Draft Contest: The Field

Sixty eight contestants have entered the Blunderdome, and the consensus and your truly have stepped into the ring, too.

The field is set for tomorrow night's Sactown Royalty Draft Contest. Bragging rights and perhaps some beef jerky is on the line, so let's get to the dried, cured, salted meat of it.

So it's settled. We're drafting Aaron Gordon.

The "a" entries were received primarily prior to the news breaking on both Joel Embiid and Dario Saric, while the "b" entries came after the news.

There were a few interesting(?) items here. While Jabari Parker won the consensus vote (see entry 39b), he did so by the slimmest of margins. Giving each player 14 points for a first place vote, 13 for a second, 12 for a third, etc., Parker averaged 13.58, while Andre Wiggins came in at 13.49. Joel Embiid edged Dante Exum for 3rd at 11.94 to 11.49. Among others bandied about around here for the #8 pick, Noah Vonleh was 8.96, Julius Randle 8.71, Marcus Smart 8.20, Aaron Gordon 7.88, and Doug McDermott 5.41. Late publicity did not vault Elfrid Payton (1.43) into contention.

Those falling outside of the top fourteen were (in order) LaVine, Nurkic, Young, Payne, Ennis, and Warren. Anderson, Capela and Early each received one fourteenth place vote each. Austin was removed due to his medical condition.

As a reminder, here are the rules for the draft contest:

Best of luck to all of you. And most importantly, best of luck to the Kings.
