The Kings Herald Show returns with a 3rd (!!!) place Sacramento Kings team to talk about.
Listen to Jerry Reynolds, Will Griffith, and Tony Xypteras talk about Monte McNair’s big contract extension, Harrison Barnes’ strong play, Keegan Murray’s improvements, the upcoming NBA trade deadline, and so much more. Thanks for listening!
We’d also like to take a quick minute here to thank our presenting sponsor for the podcast, Sacramento Electronic Supply! See you all back here in a couple of weeks.
Petrie once said in reference to drafting Peja & the negative fan reaction: If you want to lead the orchestra you have to turn your back on the audience. The returns are early & incomplete, but it appears that Monte may have done just that. As someone that understood the Sabonis / Hali trade but did not agree with taking this much narrower path, I tip my cap. And the hiring of Brown is so obvious now, but for most of us at the time he was the “at least it’s not Mark Jackson” choice.
Fun times to be a Kings fan.
Again.
Finally.
Well said.
Questions for Jerry (apologies if these have been covered in the podcast, as I have not had a chance to listen to it yet):
How beneficial would a trade need to be for you to pull the trigger on it this season? That is, how much better would you have to potentially become to alter the core rotation right now?
What do you see as the primary needs to be addressed this off season, and do you see the answers in free agency, the trade market, or the draft?
Is this year’s draft pick more valuable as an actual roster piece or a trade asset?
Harrison, Davion, Keegan….the “stone-faced Kings.”
What about Trey Lyles?
–Or is he Trey Smyles?
Glad to have McNair and Brown under contract and it seems solid Basketball people are in charge .
Delightful to hear the happy banter from you all – thanks Will, Tony and the Great JR.
The skeptic in me has to comment about the Monte McGenius extension – part of me has to figure that Bob Myers told Vivek he wouldn’t come to Sac so he went ahead and sent the signature page to keep MM in Sac.
It is heavenly to see this team firing on all cylinders (not D, but still). Riding the wave of happiness!
