The news was first reported by The Athletic&#8217;s Shans Charania before being confirmed by the team.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Sacramento Kings are releasing F\/C Frank Kaminsky, sources tell <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheAthleticNBA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TheAthleticNBA<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Stadium?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Stadium<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ShamsCharania\/status\/1340416810299080704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 19, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Kings head coach Luke Walton discussed the decision on a call with the media, saying of Frank:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We let Frank go today and he did everything that we asked him to and he&#8217;s an NBA player. He&#8217;s a really good player. A really good teammate, but we had one spot left and Glenn I thought did a really nice job of earning that spot. So we&#8217;re going to have Glenn on the roster and we&#8217;ll keep moving forward and just kind of wish and hope the best for Frank.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ultimately, any more decisions will be made by the front office, but I would expect this being the roster going into the season.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If the decision came down to Kaminsky or Glenn Robinson III, the Kings certainly made the right call. GR3 has played well for the Kings in preseason and provides less roster redundancy than keeping Kaminsky would have.<\/p>\n<p>The last remaining unknown is the fate of Chimezie Metu.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">There is no word yet on Chimezie Metu, but the Kings don&#39;t have an extra roster spot with Glenn Robinson III making the team.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; James Ham (@James_HamNBA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/James_HamNBA\/status\/1340425129050959873?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 19, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The Kings have an available Two-Way contract and it seems logical that Metu would be offered that option.
