So the lottery is set, and the Kings, sadly, stayed at 9th. Still, never too early to think about who we might take if we keep the pick. Here's the Kings' choice at the 9th pick, according to popular mock drafts released immediately after the lottery:

ESPN: Franz Wagner

The Athletic: Keon Johnson

Tankathon: Jalen Johnson

SB Nation: Moses Moody

Bleacher Report: Jalen Johnson

Fox Sports: Keon Johnson

NBA.com: Jalen Johnson

USA Today: Franz Wagner

Sports Illustrated: Franz Wagner

The Ringer: Scottie Barnes

So out of 10 popular sports news sources, three have us taking Franz Wanger, three have us taking Jalen Johnson, two have us taking Keon Johnson, and one each awards us Scottie Barnes and Moses Moody.

Do you agree with these prognostications? Would you be satisfied with any of these five players? Which one is your favorite?

Barnes is a Haliburton-level steal at #9 imo. Would be ecstatic if that's who we got.

Wagner is the safe bet. That dude will be in the league for 12 years as a fringe starting-caliber forward and I have almost zero doubt about it.

Jalen Johnson is a pure gamble. Could be an All-Star, could be the biggest draft mistake we ever make (based on how he performs, not who we could've had instead for everyone about to scream Bagley). Too risky imo.

Moody's lack of explosiveness worries me. Not certain he's an NBA level athlete. If he proves he is, he'll be an effective 3&D guy but not much more imo. Too much risk for too little reward, there are better options at #9. If 3&D is what you want just take Wagner.

Keon Johnson is CERTAINLY an NBA level athlete, I just don't know if he's anything more than that. I'd rather have a guy at #9 who has obviously translatable skills, rather than simply the guy who jumps the highest.

What about a trade with Orlando, sending the #9 pick and Buddy for the #5 pick and filler?

@jwalker1395 I'm a little higher on Moody, but other than that, DITTO everything here for me.

@jwalker1395 There's almost zero chance Jalen is the worst Kings draft choice ever. I mean, this is the team that drafted Stauskas, TRob, Kleine, and Pervis.

Aside from Barnes, I'd look to trade out of the slot if those were the best options available.

Barnes would be a good choice but IMO, he is in top 6, so gone by 9.

duds are trying to trade #7. If they do, K. Johnson has most upside. If they don't they take Boouknight or Wagner.

Orlando- ( second pick)- they take Barnes or Kuminga at 5 and BPA at 8. But BPA is eye of beholder.

Kings at 9: if want guard- take Moody ( I see him as a 2), Bouknight or K. Johnson in that order. If want wing- Wagner top choice but if J. Johnson can show well in work out, he may be good choice.

However, IMO, player with best upside is Sengun. duds won't take him and Orlando probably will not even though they have Bomba and Carter at 4/5.
