It came out Thursday that De’Aaron Fox was not selected as an All-Star this season despite a large majority in NBA circles believing he should have been. One of those people was Charles Barkley, who on Inside The NBA let it be known that he was shocked by the news.
There are a lot of stats to justify Fox being on the team:
- 1st in Field Goal Percentage Among Point Guards
- 1st in Total Clutch Points In The NBA
- 4th in Clutch Points Per Game In The NBA
- 8th in Scoring Among Point Guards
- 12th in Rebounding Among Point Guards
Barkley nailed it with the most basic and true stat of them all though: the Sacramento Kings are third place in the Western Conference. It also is worth noting that in the clip, everyone on the Inside The NBA crew had Fox making the team.
If things continue as they have been this season, and there isn’t really any indication they won’t, Fox with the help of his partner, three-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis, and supporting case, is going to lead the Kings to playoffs. This will end the Highway to Basketball Hell we have all been on for over a decade and a half. And with Fox being the head of the snake in Sacramento, that alone should justify an All-Star nod.
Should the Kings make the playoffs, and the team plays well, and Fox continues this play next season there really shouldn’t be any reasons for him not to make the All-Star team next season.
Anyway, if you would like to rep Fox around town, we released the “Fox Around And Find Out” shirt yesterday. Check it out here.
I wonder how many losses have been turned into wins this season by fourth-quarter Fox.
I’ve never felt more comfortable as a Kings fan with the team down 5 points starting the fourth quarter.
100% this
I think what’s important about that graphic is that they all agreed on Fox being an All Star but not Gilgeous-Alexander (which I find surprising).
But maybe I’m just looking at this incorrectly.
Certainly deserving, and no doubt about it, the system is broken. That said, I’d rather the NBA focus on fixing the shitshow that is officiating before they invest any time in the all star selection process.
“The Greatest Shitshow On Court!”
Shaq really undercuts Barkley’s argument by agreeing with him, though.
