The Sacramento Kings officially signed Alex Len on Friday. The Kings did not report details of the contract, but the contract was previously reported as a two year deal worth $7.65 million, which would be the bi-annual exception.
Monte McNair said of the signing:
“It is great to welcome Alex back to the Kings,” said McNair. “Alex will add toughness, competitiveness and experience while securing our front line depth.”
Len was with the Kings two years ago and was a bit of a fan favorite as a solid backup big man. Len should provide the Kings with some size and toughness that they lacked at times last season.
That is 16 rostered players by my math. I’m guessing Justin James is waived in the coming days.
Still, that leaves 15 players and the Kings have yet to use their MLE.
Can carry 20 until the end of training camp, so roster size isn’t an issue at this point.
My money is on Woodard. Doesn’t fill any roster need and has looked downright abysmal in every minute he’s played this summer. James needs to be waived tomorrow or his contract becomes guaranteed. If it locks in, then Woodard also becomes the cheaper cut.
Brought him back to Len-d a hand.
Alex-cuse that pun, but just this one time.
You’re both terrible people.
The next interesting days will be when recently traded players can be traded again.
I think they’ve shortened it this season to 19 days, when it used to be 60. That means TT could be packaged in trade in less than two weeks.
Who are the FO realistically targeting at…?
with a package of TT, Hield, Bagley, and maybe one future 1st round pick.
Hope is a good thing.
Very Nice…. Len is Solid State!
Good addition. He can back up Holmes. If JJ is kept, then someone else is going. TT?
4 centers and one on a two way is more than enough. TT does not bring anything special.
I like Len- he adds toughness and a big body for the big body teams.
Next 2 days interesting. The other value in re-signing JJ is that his money can be used to balance a contract/trade.
TT = JJ for Siakem? ( that’s a joke)
If he’ll break one of Jonas Valančiūnas’ limbs, give him a four-year max extension.
Alex Len is good. Welcome back big man
yes…I thought we would be bringing him back after his first stint with the Kings…
Happy to see him back….just a BIG body, help setting screen, and run for some putback slam
This is a weirdly constructed roster.
