De’Aaron Fox out against Cavaliers with foot injury

Fox had been listed as questionable and has been dealing with a lingering foot injury.

The Sacramento Kings announced this afternoon that De’Aaron Fox will miss today’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Fox is out with what is listed as “foot soreness”.

Fox has been dealing with lingering pain for several games now. Fox initially said he was getting over a bug, and had general soreness. In Wednesday’s loss against the Milwaukee Bucks, Fox was often seen grimacing and slightly limping duding stoppages in play.

While there’s never a good time to rest one of the team’s best players, the Kings current six-game road trip is one of the toughest stretches of the season so far. Even with Fox healthy wins would be hard to come by. This seems as good a time as any to give Fox a game or two of extra rest to get back to full strength. The Kings have also demonstrated the ability to win even when Fox isn’t having a great game, so sitting Fox isn’t the equivalent of accepting a loss.

Fox’s status will likely be decided game by game at this point. After the Cavs, the Kings next opponents are the New York Knicks on Sunday.

Let him rest. It seems a fully healthy Fox is >>> a hobbled Fox.

Yeah I’d rather see Davion and others get big minutes over a hobbled Fox.

We all knew it was only a matter of time. Unfortunately Fox has proven throughout his career to be oft injured. I was really starting to appreciate the work Fox has put in to improve his shooting and overall game. Lets hope this is just a precautionary thing and he will be back at full strength soon.

Good. It’s a long season and these kinds of nagging injures can add up. Rest him until he is 100% as there is no point if trying to force the issue on the road.

That all being said, I’m really interested to see how Mitchell, Monk, TD, and Delly step up. Could we also see some minutes from Ellis!? This is why having good depth is essential in an 82 game season.

Fine by me. he was holding his left wrist at times last game. it looked like his knee was hurting last game. he shot at least three 3’s that fell short. Get Fox back to 100% because I’m not sure if he”s the same player at 90%. Prove me wrong!

I’ve had my share of foot injuries from distance running and they’re pretty insidious – you can usually grit your way through it but it sucks ass and it never heals until you take some time off. Let Fox sit until he gets right, we’ve got enough depth to get through it.
