Hello, everybody! I never got a chance to explain what went on with the Sactown Royalty after everything happened. To keep it short and simple, it never felt right to continue podcasting as I had been, given everything going on. For months, however, we’ve been planning every aspect of the new podcast and it is back to its (mostly) weekly format!
For the first episode in this new format, I talked to several members of the TKH team as we anticipated yesterday’s launch. Of course, there are the same rabbit trails that people expect from the show.
Thank you all for being with us through these last four months. The support has truly been amazing, and I have never been so excited to hit publish on the podcast.
Also a special shoutout to our own Will Griffith for designing the new logo!
Thankfully, we got to keep our old feed, so if you already subscribed there’s nothing that needs to be done! If you haven’t, however, please do!
I have some exciting ideas for the next few weeks that I can’t wait to share with you. Thanks again!
About that banner:
We saw it, and we regret to inform you that the Kings Herald is now cancelled.
We earned it and that’s the last I can speak of that until I find my voice
It won’t be complete without a white van adventure.
The white van carries Lyle, Evan, and Roger along a pretty good green way in northern California. It is dark except for the flickering moonlight that comes between the trees and the headlights of other cars.
Lyle wonders aloud if the forms of things are real.
“I wonder instead where our character lies.”
“And I am concerned that we can’t know our own minds.”
They drive on a while toward Yreka, hoping to get there when the Bakery opens in the morning.
“Is there any way out?” asks the inquisitive Evan.
“Yes. It is art.”
“Like the stuff on the wall?”
“No. That’s flickering images. Art comes through the will and through the idea. It sets knowledge free. The object of science is the universal that contains many particulars; the object of art is the particular that contains a universal.’ ”
“The forest can be appreciated without admixture of personal will.”
“Not so much at the moment, but once the sun comes out the forest can become a Corot. The artist frees himself from personal concerns and eternal forms.”
“You can be free of them,” states the dogmatic Roger.
“Yet, it is this will-less perception which casts a glamour over the past and the distance and present them to us in a fair light.”
Lyle puts in a tape.
“Nothing elevates us above the strife of wills better than music. It is the molded perfection of the will itself. Hear this.”
“The other arts speak only of the shadows. Music speaks of the things directly. At its best, the intellect is left.”
They listen on.
Finished listening to it finally. Suggestions: Brad, don’t press the button that stops the podcast!
Great work on the podcast. It was great to hear your guys’s voices and hear some of the ideas you have for the future. And shout out to Blake for being monumental in getting the site running as smoothly and awesomely as possible!
